| Below you
will find answers to some of the more frequently asked questions we hear from customers.
If you dont see your question listed, please email us and well answer it for
you directly. Who knows, if its good enough, perhaps itll end up on our FAQ
page! Whats
the difference between a triple-hemmed tarp and a single-hemmed one?
The major difference is strength and longevity. The single-hemmed tarps on the
market may cover your load and work well for you, but repeated use will wear on the hems
causing them to fray and rip. Our triple-hemmed tarps are guaranteed to last. So,
you can rest assured that you wont have to reinvest in another tarp two years down
the road.
What are the
advantages of grommets over d-rings?
D-rings are only as strong as the webbing they are attached to as well as the strength of
the tarps hem. Once the thread starts to give on your hem, there goes your d-ring!
At Toledo Tarp, we use individually reinforced grommets and set them into triple hemmed
tarps. Youre assured of added strength thanks to the multiple layers and sew
patterns.
What weight of vinyl
should I use for a roll tarp?
We have found that a good 22 oz vinyl is the best choice. It will wear better and longer
and provide the added strength and weight needed for a roll tarp.
What colors do your
fabrics come in and where are they made?
We use only American made, first grade vinyls, available in 12 different
colors. Our biggest sellers are black, blue, green and gray. But white, yellow, orange,
red, brown, tan, light blue and burgundy are also available. You can also specify two
colors for a unique color combination. Our mesh selection is black only, while canvas for
over-the-road hauling is green.
How long will my
tarp last?
The normal life expectancy for our vinyl tarps with heavy use is 2-3 years. However, with
the proper care and attention to tie downs and repairs, this period can be extended by
another 2 years. We have had tarps out there for 5-6 years before they needed replacement.
What makes your tarp
better than the next guys?
We do not cut corners when fabricating our tarps. We use only what we think are the best
vinyls on the market, rot-resistant thread, and heat-sealed seams, which are guaranteed
for the life of the tarp. All hems are triple-stitched, with individually reinforced
grommets for more strength and longer life. And we pride ourselves on the fit of our
tarps, no matter what configuration your trailer is!
